In August 2025, Kyrgyzstan experienced a rise in its annual inflation rate to 9.5%, up from 8.8% the month prior, reaching its highest level since September 2023. This increase was primarily fueled by rising costs in key sectors: food and non-alcoholic beverages surged to 13.1% from 11.5% in July, housing and utilities went up to 13.7% from 13.3%, recreation and culture grew to 6.7% from 6.4%, healthcare climbed to 8.3% from 7.8%, and miscellaneous goods and services rose to 3.4% from 3.0%. Moreover, the education sector continued its rapid growth at an impressive 24.2%. Conversely, there was a deceleration in price hikes within the transport sector, which slowed to 4.7% from 5.4%, and in restaurants and hotels, which eased to 1.9% from 2.1%, as well as in clothing and footwear, dropping to 1.6% from 2.0%. On a month-over-month basis, consumer prices saw a rise of 0.4% in August, which was slower compared to the 0.6% increase observed in July.
